PARISH LIFE Committees:
PASTORAL COUNSEL The Pastoral Council is an advisory body of the parish to assist the pastor in the areas of pastoral activities. The Pastoral Council is based on the vision of pastoral councils as outlined by the past Ordinary of the Diocese OF THE AREA OF THE CHURCH With these documents as primary guide, the council helps the pastor in the following specific areas: identifying pastoral needs of the parish, planning pastoral programs, improving pastoral services and evaluating the effectiveness of existing programs and services.
FINANCIAL COMMITTEE The Parish Finance Council functions as an advisory body to the pastor regarding the financial matters of the parish. The group meets each year two or three times a year to discuss the finance reports, school and parish budgets, fund-raising efforts, capital campaigns and capital improvements.
WORSHIP COMMITTEE The Catholic Church has always been committed to missionary activity, but with the Second Vatican Council its understanding of missionary activity was broadened and the word evangelization was recovered for Catholics. Every Catholic is called to proclaim the good news of God’s reign through word and example. By virtue of our Baptism each of us is called to spread the Gospel message to all. It has been said that there is a crisis of meaning in the lives of many people today. They yearn for happiness and peace and something to believe in. Our world is fraught with war, poverty, violence and many other issues challenging the human community. Evangelization reminds us of the importance of a personal relationship with the God who created us, loves us unconditionally and has saved us. This is the good news we have to share that may help others answer the yearnings of their own hearts. With God’s grace, the example of Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit we can - go and make disciples.
HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE The Hospitality Committee is a group of parishioners, both men and women, who plan, coordinate, and staff various social and liturgical-based parish events. These include funeral receptions, and other receptions that follow parish functions. The committee is also in charge of decorating the reception room in the Parish Center and insuring that the kitchen is fully stocked with supplies.
