How to determine when Lent Begins
The first day of Lent is called Ash Wednesday, to determine the beginning of Lent. Take the number of the current year add 1 then divide by 19.
Disregard the number - and look at the remainder.
The use the table below to determine the date.

Or take the date of Easter and subtract 40 days not counting Sundays and this is Ash Wednesday.

Example  2007 +1 = 2008  / 19 = 105 remainder 13 - date April 2nd
