| Song: At the Foot of the Cross |
|
Walking to Jesus I walked into a church one night, and sat down in the pew. Afraid, alone and scared, I listened to His view. He talked about the peace that is found, when your heart is open and free. So, I asked myself is this really for me? As I sat and pondered, on what was ahead, a voice kept shouting at me: “Go home, stop listening, go to bed. This is not for you, you can’t possibly expect to receive. These promises He speaks about, are not meant for you or me. So don’t believe a word you hear, don’t listen to His call. He can’t give you what I can, you will only fall.” But why have I been put here? Still rumbles in my brain. There has to be more out of life then hurt and pain. And then the words come back again, echoing in my heart. “Come follow me” “Be not afraid” “for here is where you start. So “Let us begin again” and take a deeper look into the spiritual meaning of Lent. What the readings from the bible are truly trying to teach us as we walk through each day with new eyes focused on Jesus. Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance. Where there is patience and humility, there is neither anger nor vexation. Where there is poverty and joy, there is neither greed nor avarice. Where there is peace and meditation, there is neither anxiety nor doubt.” St. Francis of Assisi At the foot of the cross At the foot of the cross Where grace and suffering meet You have shown me your love Through the judgement you received And you’ve won my heart Yes you’ve won my heart Now I can Chorus: Trade these ashes in for beauty And wear forgiveness like a crown Coming to kiss the feet of mercy I lay every burden down At the foot of the cross At the foot of the cross Where I am made complete You have given me life Through the death you bore for me And you’ve won my heart Yes you’ve won my heart Now I can Chorus: Repeat 2 times |
