EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS Yours is Service at the Lord’s Reconciling Table. Eucharistic Ministers are called not only to minister the Body and Blood of Christ, but also to take on Christ’s likeness. The ministers accomplish this by strengthening their faith from within and sharing it with the faithful at communion time. The role of Eucharistic Ministers seems simple enough: to minister the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembled faithful. In reality, the role of each Eucharistic Minister is to draw faith from the people of God, to become more and more like the Body and Blood of Christ. Eucharistic Ministers are called not only to minister the Body and Blood of Christ, but also to take on Christ’s likeness. The ministers accomplish this by strengthening their faith from within and sharing it with the faithful at communion.
USHERS The role of ushers is the oldest lay ministry in the Catholic Church. It is a descent from a long line of people of God. During the time of Christ, they were called the doorkeepers of the temple. Today’s primary duties and responsibilities include greeting and welcoming parishioner’s as they enter the church; help them with seating, information or questions. Also they take up the collection and wish everyone a good day at the conclusion of the Eucharistic celebration.
ALRAR SERVERS An altar server is a lay assistant to a member of the clergy during a religious service. An altar server attends to supporting tasks at the altar such as fetching and carrying, ringing the altar bell, etc.
LECTOR The ministry of a lector is vital to the life of a parish because it is through the lector that the Word of God is Proclaimed. A love for the Scriptures and their meaning in the life of the parish is central to this role.
